Dolochar is the char residue from coal-based sponge iron (DRI) kilns. It contains leftover carbon and some dolomite and ash, and is used mainly as a low-cost fuel in boilers, power plants and brick kilns.
Dolochar is supplied as loose material in the size it comes from the kiln, or screened if needed. Fixed carbon, ash, moisture and calorific value vary a lot between sources and lots, so these values are shared with the quotation, and a test report can be discussed. Supply is usually in bulk truck loads, and bagged material can be arranged for smaller buyers. See our Carbon, Coke & Charcoal category for other fuels.
Store in an open but drained yard or a covered shed. Keep heaps away from flammable materials and avoid very large compacted heaps of damp material, which can self-heat. Use a dust mask while handling dry material, and refer to the SDS.
